Boeing SC Offers ‘Do Not Disturb’ Signs For Teammates Not Wanting Union Visits At Their Homes

The International Association of Machinists (IAM), in its seeming never-ending quest to unionize Boeing’s employees in South Carolina, are apparently conducting home visits again in the Charleston area.

According to the Seattle Times, the union “could seek a vote as early as this year.”

Although the last time the IAM’s organizers conducted home visits, it resulted in organizers allegedly being threatened with physical violence (or worse), according to the union—even though the union’s charges were later dismissed due to “insufficient evidence.”

As a result of the IAM’s current attempts, last week, Boeing SC posted ‘Do Not Disturb’ signs on its Facebook page with the following message:

Our teammates have told us that the Machinists Union has increased its visits to your homes in recent days. We continue to hear from many of our teammates that you are tired of these visits, and that you would prefer it if you and your family were not bothered in this manner. As a reminder, teammates have no obligation – legal or otherwise – to let union representatives into your homes or on your property. We’ve updated this simple sign and are providing it to download, print and post on your door at home if you’d like. Just click on the image to open it, then right click on it and save to your desktop to print.

Whether or not the union’s organizers honor the ‘Do Not Disturb’ signs, if posted, remains to be seen.
