Deaconess Medical Center and Valley Hospital and Medical Center say they are prepared to continue treating patients if a union strike happens on August 11th. Below is the official press release from Deaconess and Valley Hospital.
Deaconess Medical Center and Valley Hospital and Medical Center are prepared to continue treating patients in the event of a one-day strike by the Service Employees International Union 1199 NW (SEIU). The hospitals have received written notice of the union's intent to strike beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 11 and ending at 6:59 a.m. on Thursday, August 12.
[snip] Registered nurses at Deaconess are not represented by the union and will be working at the hospital Wednesday; the hospital’s RNs decertified from the SEIU in June 2008.
