Sacramento jury delivers mixed ruling in Teamster harassment case

A Sacramento Superior Court jury today found that a local union official engaged in “unwanted harassing conduct” against a female employee because she was a woman, but that she was barred from recovering damages because of the statute of limitations.
The same jury failed to reach a verdict on whether Teamsters Local 150 was liable, and Judge Judy Holzer Hersher declared a mistrial in that part of the case.
Attorneys for the union’s secretary treasurer, Jim Tobin, who was the only named defendant in the case, declared the jury’s findings to be a total victory for him.
