What A Bunch Of Turkeys! This Union Really Wants To Ruin Everyone's Thanksgiving

Wall Mart StrikeIn an effort to capture headlines, instead of enjoying the holiday season, union bosses at the United Food & Commercial Workers seem to be mainly interested in ruining their members’ Thanksgivings.
This year, just like clockwork, the UFCW bosses are planning their annual Walmart protests across the nation.
Since these protests are mostly manned by paid protesters from the union, not actual WalMart employees, they’re really nothing more than media events that offer little more than the spectacle of a noisy entrance for shoppers entering the targeted WalMart stores.
As in other years, despite the UFCW’s best efforts to try and disrupt WalMart’s business, it always fails–as it’s predicted to this year as well.

Turkeys strikeOn the East Coast, once UFCW is doing something even more bizarre.
UFCW Local 1500 bosses have called a strike preparation meeting for the Sunday night before Thanksgiving to announce that they may go on strike before Thanksgiving.
As in the WalMart case, this too appears to be nothing more than a media stunt.
Not how the union bosses are not calling for UFCW members to strike, even though they could. They’ve merely called a meeting to let the media know that they’re thinking about calling a strike.

Stop and Shop employees represented by United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1500 will meet Sunday night to receive an update on the possibility of work stoppage at over 45 New York area supermarkets heading into the Thanksgiving holiday.
Stop and Shop stores located in Suffolk, Nassau, Westchester, Putnam and Duchess County’s, as well as the five boroughs. would be affected by the work stoppage. The 6,000 members of UFCW Local 1500 have been working without a contract since November 3rd.
UFCW Local 1500 recieved [sic] strike authorization from the membership on October 28th.
After failing to reach an accord on a new collecttive [sic] bargaining agreement that originally expired September 28th, UFCW Local 1500 and Stop and Shop management began meeting this past week with the assistance of a Federal Mediator. Since minimal progress was made, UFCW Local 1500 called for the Sunday night meetings to prepare the work force for a possible work stoppage just three days before Thanksgiving.

Instead of paying protesters to camp outside of WalMart stores annoying shoppers on Black Friday–instead of bothering trying to get their members and members of the media to spend Sunday night to announce that maybe the union will call a strike before Thanksgiving–union bosses would better serve their members by staying home this and watching a football game or two.
