For New Jerseyans, 2017 will be a big year. That is when the current governor, Chris Christie, will be term limited from running for a third term and, depending on the outcome of the 2017, either a Republican or a union-backed Democrat will win.
If a union-backed candidate wins in 2017, given that the current Senate President is a union official, that will give unions complete control of the Garden State.
On Tuesday, a “record 47 union members won their elections, a phenomenal win ratio of 73% for labor candidates on the ballot,” according to the NJ State AFL-CIO.
In the state house, Democrats expanded their majority.
This, according to the union federation, keeps “our momentum strong heading into the 2016 presidential race.”
