'Ticked Off' UAW Members May Strike Kohler By Week's End

Although they have not called a strike since 1983, at the end of October, United Auto Workers members who work at a Kohler plant in Wisconsin voted to authorize the UAW to call a strike at the end of their contract.
Now, as their contract nears expiration, it appears a strike is more likely.

If the Kohler union membership doesn’t agree on a new contract by the end of the week, they say they’ll go on strike.

That could be more likely than not, as the president of the Local 833 said negotiations have been moving slowly and many issues are still unresolved with four days of negotiations remaining.

“The bottom line is people are ticked off,” said Local 833 President Tim Tayloe.
