Jennifer Lawrence, the star of the mega-movie series the Hunger Games 1 & 2 and Mocking Jay Parts 1 & 2, got the crew of her latest film Joy to agree to something somewhat controversial on the set.
According to HRM New Zealand, Lawrence got the entire crew to keep working instead of taking time off for lunch.
The widely-acclaimed Hunger Games actress asked bosses and employees alike to implement ‘French hours’ – a practice in the film industry where there is no break for lunch during a shoot.
Instead, food is passed around during the day and the crew works continuously.
Typically, every union has to vote separately on the controversial approach.
“Jennifer Lawrence’s star power has now grown to the point she’s able to influence the entire crew’s working hours,” reports the UK’s Independent.
“I’ve watched Jennifer grow up and handle herself,” said Joy‘s director, David O’Russell, in an interview with Deadline.com. “I watch her now saying to the crew, ‘I think we should work French hours,’ which is a very Joy-like thing to do. Every union has to vote on it separately. You don’t have lunch. You don’t stop. What we found difficult was to start and stop and start again. So we said, ‘Let’s just go,’ and we loved it.”
