Well, this comes as no real shock.
Mitsubishi’s now-closed plant in Normal, IL will remain closed—more than likely, permanently.
The Japanese automaker has given up trying to find an automotive buyer for the facility, according to Autonews.com.
“We have given up looking for an automaker to buy the plant, but we are looking for possible buyers from other industries,” a Mitsubishi Motors spokesman said.

Once a production hub for Mitsubishi’s Outlander Sport SUV model, the Normal, Ill., plant ended vehicle production in November, laying off 1,000 workers.
On Wednesday, according to its website, the United Auto Workers local representing the Mitsubishi workers held its fourth job fair since November.
