Although the U.S. economy appears to have not grown in the first quarter of this year, Mexico’s will soon be as Ford announced Tuesday that construction on its new plant in Mexico is expected to begin this summer.
Obviously, this has political ramifications, as CNBC points out.
In a move that is sure to draw ire on the presidential campaign trail, Ford on Tuesday announced that it will be adding a new assembly plant in Mexico.
The Detroit automaker said it will invest $1.6 billion into the facility and create 2,800 jobs by 2020, with construction expected to begin this summer.
